Tape Formats: IBM 3490 Cartridge

This IBM tape unit is usually used on mainframes and AS/400s. Like the 3480 tape cartridge, the 3490 tape cartridge uses a small reel of half-inch chromium dioxide tape that is enclosed in a compact cartridge for greater tape protection and automatic tape threading. The 3490 tape cartridge uses built-in compression to obtain a 400 MB capacity.
